For as long as I can remember, one of my favorite activities has been sifting through old pictures. Every time I went to my grandparent's house as a child, the visit would inevitably lead to me pulling out the photo albums and combing every page as if I hadn't seen each of my mom's reluctantly documented 70's haircuts a million times before. At my own house, it was the same story. Every late night or day off of school I would pull out the multicolored photo boxes and dive in. I can't say anything has changed at all in that regard, except for the fact that since the age of 13 or so, I switched from only looking at the pictures after they were taken, to seeing each one captured behind the lens.
The core of what excites me about photography now is the same as what has always drawn me to it. I love the people in my life and I want to keep adding to the collection of photos to be celebrated and looked back on by myself and others. Being able to combine my deep love of the performing arts and penchant for both sentimentality and in-the-moment joy has been a constant adventure and I can't wait for what's yet to come.
